Choose your favorite BI public artwork

Online voting is underway for the People’s Choice Award for Something New IV on Bainbridge Island.

There are five new public works of art downtown this year. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favorite on bainbridgecurrents.com. The winner of the People’s Choice Award receives $1,000.

Something New is the annual rotating exhibition of sculpture in Winslow made possible by Arts & Humanities Bainbridge’s partnership with the town through the Public Art Committee.

An Arts & Humanities Bainbridge press release says:

There are two sites at Waterfront Park: Wandering Trees by Shawn Marie Johnson and I Watch Salmon From the Bridge Above by Ed McCarthy.

Wandering Trees is a nature-themed stacked base totemic sculpture by Seattle-based Johnson.

McCarthy’s work is a colorful and abstract geometric steel sculpture,

Jan Hoy’s Cardinal Connection is outside the town hall. This curved bronze sheet sculpture is fused with a central connecting edge.

Featured at the South Madison Marina Overlook, MacRae Wylde’s Truth is a bold vertical sculpture of intertwined letters.

In front of the Town & Country Market, Jennifer Kuhn’s Fertility is a mosaic-encrusted terracotta egg with many colorful symbols of spring and fertility.
